Q: Is Islam a peaceful religion?
Not it isn't. One of the most reported sayings of Muhammad is: "I was commanded to fight all people until they witness that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet".
Q: But the Quran commands tolerance.
These Meccan verses are all abrogated by the "verses of the sword" according to the interpretations of the earliest Quranic interpreters (Mufasireen).
Q: But gazwas were all in self defence.
A: They weren't. If Muhammad acted out of self defence, why did he take sex slaves? Does not he value human dignity? What would justify taking sex slaves but seeking gain and worldly pleasure?
Q: Was the Quran written in an Arabic tongue?
A: The Quran claims it was written in an Arabic tounge. But it actually wasn't. Words like Enjeel isn't an Arabic word but taken from Greek. Tawr (طور) means a mountain taken from Aramaic. Al-Maseeh, Ibraheem, Moosa, Elias, Gibreel are all Hebrew names used in the Quran which are meaningful in Hebrew but in Arabic they are merely sounds.
Q: Did Islam bring faith in one God?
No. Belief in one God existed before Islam (Jahili (pre-Islamic) Poetry). See: ديوان أمية بن أبي الصلت - سجيع جميل الجبيلي p. 42
Q: But Islam is an Abrahamic religion because Muhammad is a descendant of Ishmael?
15 And God said to Abraham, “As for Sar′ai your wife, you shall not call her name Sar′ai, but Sarah shall be her name. 16 I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her; I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.” 17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said to himself, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?” 18 And Abraham said to God, “O that Ish′mael might live in thy sight!” 19 God said, “No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac.[He laughs] I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasing covenant for his descendants after him. 20 As for Ish′mael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him and make him fruitful and multiply him exceedingly; he shall be the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. 21 But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this season next year.” (Genesis 17:15)
